The Power of the Mind
I’m reading a book by Jeffrey M. Schwartz called “The Mind & The Brain: Neuroplasticity and the Power of Mental force”. It’s entire premise is that the mind isn’t merely a conglomerate of chemicals and electrons firing causing us to feel a certain way or to be a certain person. The notion isn’t entirely new. It’s as old as thought itself.
The internal conflict that resides in us all is proof of this. If chemicals and electrons determined who (or what) we are, why second guess anything that we do? We would be purely instinctual beings. Our mind is what allows us to separate ourselves from the moment and analyze what is going on from a third party perspective. The very act of that is impressive. Try it sometime and really analyze what you’re doing.
